  1. I really like this beginning to a game. The arrow keys before you start moving are helpeful, and all the hand drawn graphics match well. And I really like how you guide the player gently with the “Help!” speech bubble. It’s a great way to solve navigation in an open ended world.

Very small bug: The “help” dialog box works well off the right hand side of the screen, but when it’s off the top or another edge, the speech bubble doesn’t point in the right direction.

Can’t wait to see how it turns out!

  2. I like the the 2d world. And the keyboard set up feels very natural. Finding the turtle is clearly easy, but rather boring along the way. Why do I turn yellow when I step on a coconut?

When I got to the turtle, since there was nothing to do, I walked around it and the turtle would disappear and reappear. Was this on purpose? Anyway, when the turtle disappeared the help bubble was still there so I made my guy the one saying help:

I am also anxious to see where this is going. I like the style a lot and it would be a shame not to add an equally interesting narrative. At least, more stuff to do in this world.

  4. The way you’ve created an illusion of an open world is really amazing.

I thought using the coconut trees for more than just turning the player yellow would be fun. Maybe you could use the wood from the trees to build something (say a boat, a house) that blends well with the narrative.

  5. I like this one, though I can’t help the turtle :)

It would be an important narrative part to help him – or her, and get to next stage – maybe take him to the shore?

I can’t wait to see next version.

  6. Pretty nice game…simple design but fun to play. I like how there is an illusion that you are wandering aimlessly but there is still the “help” to follow. The coconuts falling off the trees were interesting. Even though there was no point system, I still found myself trying to collect the coconuts. Look forward to the next version

  7. I’m embarassed to say how long I explored in the wrong direction just collecting coconuts before I saw the help speech bubble. I didn’t mind though… it was fun.

I got to the second level but the Alligators are increasing the number of hours till I have to eat again. Is this right?

Nice start to the game/story. Is it going to be a mystery?
