The style of this game is very elegant. I like the moving spirit on the tree, and the mouse causing a trail of these swarming bits is quite striking.
I’m interested to see where you take this. I don’t know if adding more interactivity would help, or if just adding more activities the player could do during the story, like somehow having the tree act out its response to the chains or other things, would give the player a way of advancing through the story that was more interesting.
Small interface issues:
The subtle color contrast made it hard to see where the mouse was at times, until it sat somewhere for a second and enough dots accumulated that it was darker. Differentiating the mouse’s spot with something like a glow around it would make that a little easier.
On the screen with the chains, there’s a lot going on in the narrative and (I think you said this in class) it would be great if that were split up into more illustrations, so we don’t miss the “but” part of the sentence.

I’m a big fan of the accelerating particles and the grayscale scheme.
I like the particles following my mouse so much that it cramps my style to have to use the keyboard. Is there a nice way to do this with just the mouse?
I wanted the particles to flow from the big tree to the little tree faster. It was harder to tell this was happeneing at all until close to the end.

I almost expected a swishing sound effect as soon as the game started, when the spirit was entering into the old tree.
Its a great concept of visual / interactive story telling.

I like the story and the way to interact with it. Also the graphic is great – really fit for the game.
I want to know what is going to happen to the tree spirit after he moved to the small tree.

Nice graphics. I kind of liked moving the mouse around the screen and see the spirit move along. I look forward to seeing some user interactivity for this game. I feel there is a lot of scope for that. Something you can consider is giving the users and story and telling them what happens in your version. Then users can choose whether to continue along that path or do something different. So it would not only have alternate endings but different ways of reaching there too.
